PERINATAL and WOMEN’S MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING Mental health counseling is provided to the perinatal and motherhood community throughout the states of North Carolina and South Carolina using a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. I am a perinatal mental health specialist, assisting women in navigating the many facets of pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood. This may include role change and transitions, family planning, fertility/infertility, pregnancy complications and pregnancy illnesses, grief and loss, matrescence and identity development in motherhood, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders such as postpartum depression/anxiety/ptsd/ocd. Additionally, I support women who are experiencing periods of personal or professional change and transition. This may include challenges or change related to work/life balance, impostor syndrome, self-esteem, codependency, increasing resiliency, and intentional enhancement of overall wellness. Wherever you are at in your journey and whatever your 'work' may be, I am here to provide a compassionate space for healing past traumas and hurts, processing how prior relationships may be influencing your today, and discovering (or rediscovering) how you wish to show up for yourself and others. My approach to therapeutic care is multi-faceted and integrative; gathering detailed information related to the systems you live and work within (family, work, social, etc), held beliefs and values, degree of readiness for change, and supportive resources available to you. This depth of information better ensures that the therapeutic interventions implemented will be both meaningful in the moment and sustainable in the long-term. Paired with well-known therapeutic approaches of CBT and family systems, I integrate embodiment practices such as mindfulness and somatic experiencing into all parts of our work to assist in releasing held emotional experiences while deepening self-awareness and self-connection. CONSULTATIVE WORK I offer both in-person and virtual consultative work to groups and organizations throughout the United States. Please contact my office for more information on available group trainings and workshops. CREDENTIALS My credentials include an earned doctorate in Counselor Education & Supervision from the University of South Carolina and an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marywood University. I am a North Carolina Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), and a South Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I am credentialed as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) by the National Board for Certified Counselors and have achieved the Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) distinction through Postpartum Support International (PSI). Lastly, I believe in continuous learning, expanding and deepening of my knowledge base at every opportunity. Doing so benefits my clients greatly by ensuring that I am up to date on care practices supported by current counseling outcomes research. In addition to my clinical work I have also served as an Assistant Professor of Counselor Education, have been an invited guest lecturer, and an adjunct instructor at multiple universities. I have also published several papers in top-tier professional counseling journals on the topics of wellness, grief, counselor training, and mindfulness as a therapeutic technique.
